“Carrie has been fabulous to work with, especially around challenging schedules. We so appreciate her care and concern for our daughter. Our daughter has blossomed in her confidence as she has gained more functional movement of her tongue and speech.
Thanks so much Carrie!"
-Monique L. (daughter, 13yrs old)
“Walking into myotherapy I didn’t have many expectations besides prepping the mouth for a tongue and lip tie release for my 6 and 8 year old sons. I was blown away that within two months of regular mouth exercises my sons were sleeping through the night and were able to finally get into a deep sleep. We had maybe had two nights up until this point where they had both slept through the night. My 6 year old was able to fully
stop using night diapers and my 8 year old has stopped having accidents at night, which were quite frequent. Carrie is so patient and accommodating, cheering your family on the whole way. I could not imagine walking through this process with anyone else. Thank you Central Washington Myofunctional
Therapy for improving our quality of life in unthinkable ways.”
-Shyann C. (boys 6 and 8 yrs old)
“I want to sincerely thank you for all the support and guidance you’ve provided to my two boys over the last year. When we first started, my family knew very little about myofunctional therapy or tongue tie surgery, but thanks to your expertise, we now feel confident and well-informed throughout the entire process. Your in-depth knowledge of the subject, coupled with your personal experience, gave us a unique perspective that was invaluable. Not only did you provide exceptional therapy
for my boys, but you also helped us navigate the overwhelming task of finding the right doctors for the surgery. Your willingness to assist every step of the way made all the difference. I would highly recommend your services to anyone looking for myofunctional therapy or
needing guidance on tongue tie surgery. We’re so grateful for everything you’ve done to improve our family’s health and understanding.”
-Amanda G. (boys 14 and 11yrs old)
“Hi Carrie!
I sure have learned a lot the last 6 months. Thank you so much for your help and graciousness. Your professionalism speaks volumes about the level of care you have provided. I’ve already given your name as a recommendation to other friends who have kiddos with similar issues. Thank you!”
-Jen S. (daughter,13 yrs old)
“Myofunctional therapy has been crucial in improving my kids' airway development. It helped eliminate snoring and supported proper healing after my son's tongue tie release, while enabling my daughter to avoid the procedure entirely. I highly recommend this therapy for any parent who notices mouth breathing or snoring in their kiddo and any parent considering orthodontics for their kids. I now understand what an important role proper tongue posture has in facial development, teeth development and jaw development. Myofunctional therapy can be an important piece of the puzzle as it pertains to your kids overall and long-term health.”
-Andreas L. (daughter 14, son 9)
“Working with Carrie has helped me reinforce that my second time through braces will not have been in vain. By relearning how to chew, swallow, and even just be at rest, I am much more confident that my tongue musculature and actions are putting pressure in all the correct places and not pushing things out of alignment. Plus, I am breathing better, and I am snoring less! Myofunctional therapy is definitely worth looking into.”
-Allison P. (age 38)
“My daughter was struggling to sleep through the night, she would snore and have puddles of drool on her pillow, and she was always the messiest eater. She’d always wake up tired and sometimes cranky. She also had a jaw sprain, which caused pain and weakness. This then rolled into her academics and athletics as she was struggling to focus on anything for even a reasonable amount of time, causing frustration for all involved.
I began to research airway breathing at night and stumbled across the Myofunctional Therapy approach. I did a quick search and found Carrie was somewhat nearby. From our first visit to our last, we felt encouraged, affirmed, and most importantly saw the results we so desperately desired. Carrie was willing to do mostly zoom appointments and was open to discussing natural options first. My daughter saw her as another aunty figure in her life.
Three months into therapy, our daughter had begun sleeping through the night, without snoring and drool! As time continued, we saw drastic improvements in her ability to focus and her droopy jaw. She’s now probably the cleanest eater and as we continue to keep some exercises as part of our daily routine, we’re hopeful that over time her jaw will be even stronger than it was at the end of therapy. We couldn’t recommend Carrie enough!”
“In her own words “I liked the food bingo chart best. It’s worth doing mouth exercises because it helps lots with not snoring and helped get my jaw straighter and some of the exercises were fun, I would do it again.”
Jenny Y. (daughter age 7)
“As both a dentist and a parent, I have a unique perspective on the importance of proper orofacial development—and I can say without hesitation that my son’s experience with myofunctional therapy has been nothing short of outstanding, thanks to Carrie’s individualized program to meet his specific needs at Central Washington Myofunctional Therapy. She is both a practicing hygienist and myofunctional therapist, with a keen eye for oral and facial anatomy.
Before beginning therapy, my son exhibited several common myofunctional issues, including chronic mouth breathing, low tongue posture, sleep disturbances, and early signs of malocclusion. While I had identified these concerns from a clinical standpoint, experiencing them firsthand as a parent added an entirely new level of urgency and insight. I am thankful that located in this small valley, we have the benefit of Carrie’s experience, as she provides a specialized care you would expect to find in a larger city.
We chose to work with Carrie, and the impact has been remarkable. From the very first session, it was clear that she not only possesses expertise in orofacial myofunctional therapy but also has a rare talent for working with children. My son felt comfortable, engaged, and motivated—something I don’t take for granted, especially when therapy requires daily at-home exercises and consistency.
Over the course of treatment, we’ve seen significant improvements in his nasal breathing, resting oral posture, and even his sleep quality and energy levels. These functional changes are laying a solid foundation for future orthodontic work and overall health—and they’re changes I believe will last a lifetime.
As a dental professional, I am deeply impressed by the thorough, evidence-based care my son received. As a parent, I’m incredibly grateful for the patience, encouragement, and skill that went into every session. Practicing the exercises with my son, improved my own oral health and sleep quality as well, so I consider it a double win.
I would highly recommend myofunctional therapy to both my patients and fellow parents. It’s a powerful, proactive tool that can make a significant difference, and our experience with Carrie at Central Washington Myofunctional Therapy has only reinforced my belief in its value.”

What is
Myofunctional
Therapy?
ABOUT
Myofunctional therapy is an exercise-based therapy used to treat disorders of the face, neck, head, and mouth in children and adults.
These disorders are called orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). Think of myofunctional therapy as physical therapy for your mouth and face muscles – it’s similar to taking your face to the gym
Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) are disorders that negatively affect the growth and development of the muscles and bones of the face and mouth. As a result, OMDs can interfere with proper function of the muscles of the face and mouth that are used for necessary functions such as eating, talking, and breathing. Myofunctional therapy addresses a range of OMDs by strengthening and retraining the face, mouth and throat muscles. Our muscle memory will allow our teeth and jaws to align properly as we grow and develop.
Signs & Symptoms of OMD:
Tongue-tie, sleep apnea, snoring, crowded teeth, chronic headaches, TMD & digestive issues just to name a few...
If you have one or more of these signs and symptoms of orofacial myofunctional disorders, then myofunctional therapy can help you.
Myofunctional Disorders can start before or after birth at any age and can impact impact your life more and more as you age. The earlier the intervention, the more effective the treatment.

Many of these conditions can have a number of underlying factors and causes, however many of the root causes of the symptoms are found in a myofunctional disorder. Myofunctional therapy can help to correct these problems at their root, and can help prevent further damage to body systems and improve symptom management, helping you to feel, look and function better!

Bio
Hello! My name is Carrie Nunnally, I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist with over 23 years in systemic health and oral health experience. I graduated from Shoreline Dental Hygiene in Seattle in 2001. My husband and I moved to Leavenworth WA in 2011. We have loved raising our two kids, who are the highlight of our life, in the Wenatchee Valley area where we enjoy all the outdoor activities our beautiful valley has to offer! I work in both family and pediatric dental practices which has given me the love of working with people ages 0-102 and every age in between! I love educating people of all ages on ways to improve not only their oral health but helping them to connect the dots on improving their overall health as well. I have always had a passion for preventative and functional health which is what lead me to discovering my own (and my families) myofunctional impairments and how best to improve them. I dove into continuing my education to the expanded function of Myofunctional Therapy and starting my own journey and practice. I completed the MyoMentor extensive training under Sarah Hornsby and continue to expand my knowledge with other courses and certifications to better treat a vast array of Oral Myofunctional Dysfunctions (OMDs). My goal is to always provide the highest quality care to support and help people take charge of their health and live life as the healthiest and best version of themselves!

How we work
APPROACH
I aim to make treatment as convenient as possible. It usually starts with a complimentary phone consultation to see if you will benefit from therapy. If so we schedule a comprehensive assessment to evaluate your condition(s). This generally takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Based on my findings, a therapy program is designed to meet your specific needs. Usually, a therapy program includes 10-12 therapy sessions. Generally, sessions occur every two weeks and progressively longer time in between sessions towards the end of treatment. Sessions generally take 40 - 45 minutes, plus easy home exercises that will take around 5-10 minutes per day.
Compliance and commitment to treatment is the key to success!
